Who Are We
We are an institution of Local Governance known as an "Urban Local Body" (ULB). There are various categories of ULBs in Uttar Pradesh, and we are classified as a "Nagar Panchayat" type of ULB.
We are constituted as per the constitutional provisions of the Constitution of India. The 74th Amendment Act, promulgated by Parliament in 1992, provides the legal framework for our existence and functioning.
The Uttar Pradesh Government has introduced necessary provisions in the Acts governing Urban Local Bodies, under which Nagar Panchayat Ramganj operates.
Who Governs Us
Being an institution of local self-governance, we have two distinct wings:
- Legislature
- Executive
Our Legislature is a Governing Body, elected by the citizens residing within our geographical area. The area is divided into electoral wards, and each ward elects a representative (Sabhasad) to the Governing Body. The Governing Body is headed by the Chairman (Adhyaksh) of the Nagar Panchayat.
The Executive Wing is headed by the Executive Officer (Adhishasi Adhikari), who is responsible for the day-to-day administration and functioning of the Nagar Panchayat, supported by a team of officials and staff.
What We Do
We work towards making everyday life better for citizens within our area of jurisdiction. Some of our key functions include:
- Creation and maintenance of street lighting for safety at night
- Development and maintenance of drinking water supply network
- Construction and maintenance of roads and drains
- Birth and death registration and issuance of certificates
- Development and maintenance of parks and green spaces
- Solid waste management and sanitation services
- Implementation of government welfare schemes
